Arlington Heights, IL — The Mark Rice for Congress campaign released the following statement today regarding recent reports that the Chicago Bears are reconsidering plans to relocate to Arlington Heights.

“Arlington Heights should be part of the Chicago Bears’ future, and Illinois cannot afford to lose this opportunity because of political gridlock or uncertainty,” said Mark Rice, candidate for U.S. House in Illinois’ 8th Congressional District.

“At the same time, supporting the Bears and protecting taxpayers are not mutually exclusive. Any stadium proposal must be fiscally responsible, driven primarily by private investment, and structured to ensure local families are not left footing the bill. Blank-check subsidies and backroom deals are not the answer.”

Rice emphasized that Arlington Heights falls within Illinois’ 8th Congressional District and if elected, he would be a direct advocate in Washington who understands both the economic opportunity and the responsibility to taxpayers.

“As a member of Congress, I would work with local and state leaders to cut red tape, support smart infrastructure solutions, and advocate for a competitive, transparent framework that keeps the Bears in Illinois without burdening taxpayers,” Rice said. “We can pursue economic growth, job creation, and regional investment while still standing up for working families.”

“The Chicago Bears belong in the Chicago area. With responsible leadership and clear priorities, Arlington Heights can be the right home — without asking taxpayers to write a blank check.”
